Design Rules and Guidelines 

Design teams will be disqualified from placing in the competition if any rules have been violated. 

Teams 

Teams consist of an A&D firm paired with a product manufacturer's representative. Selected A&D firm entrants will be randomly paired with a product manufacturer at the Kick-Off Party on October 8th, 2024. One Student designer may be added to each team pending interested students (See Students section below)

A&D Design Teams 

The design team’s entry fee is $600. This fee includes six (6) General Admission Team Tickets (valued at $100ea). All participants require a ticket for entry to the event, no exceptions. Only four (4) people will have backstage access per team with one (1) being your model – NO EXCEPTIONS. Please note: Backstage access is VERY limited due to the limited space available. More details about backstage requirements will be provided before the event. A design team

will consist of a minimum of four (4) participants actively or recently employed by an architecture, interior design, engineering, or construction firm in the IIDA Northern Pacific Chapter. Exceptions will be permitted and must be approved by Product Runway Committee upon review. 

Students 

One member per team may be a current interior design or architecture student at a school located in the IIDA NPC chapter, which will be assigned to the team by the Product Runway Committee. The student team member will receive one of the provided Team Tickets. Please note: this event is a 21 or older venue, and students must be enrolled in the 2024/25 school year.

Product Manufacturer/Dealer Representatives 

The entry fee for product representatives is $750 plus the cost of finish materials. This fee includes two (2) General Admission Team Tickets (valued at $100ea). Product Runway encourages the involvement of the Product Manufacturer Representative in the design process and through the building of the garment. Manufacturers or Multi-Line Reps must commit to ONE manufacturer from their offering – should the manufacturer or rep want to showcase two manufacturers; they must sign up for two (2) different teams at the Product Runway Committee’s discretion (limited space may defer a secondary sign up).

Models 

The model is considered to be a member of the team and must be a design professional or student team member. No model outsourcing is permitted. The model will participate in pre-show events as well as the fashion show. Creativity and showmanship is encouraged, however, additional persons or props present on the runway during the event must be disclosed and approved by the Product Runway Committee in advance. Hair and Makeup Teams will be paired with a stylist based on needs. Consult coordination will occur after phase CA1. 

Material Limitations 

Design teams are limited to running line materials. No custom colors or patterns are allowed unless physically produced by the team. Materials available for garment construction will be mutually agreed upon by the design firm and representative. 

Design firms are strongly encouraged to consider the cost burden and time requirements when requesting materials. Additional materials required to fabricate/adhere/construct the garment are allowed as necessary but should comprise the smallest overall percentage of the garment and should not be outwardly visible to earn the highest possible points. 

Competition Judging & Design 

Construction Quality 

Fabrication of the materials into the garment is the sole responsibility of the design team. This includes the cost of fabrication. Teams should also consider how the garment will be stored and kept safe during the competition and following the show. Winning garments may be used in future promotions. 

Creativity 

Use materials wisely! Judges will be looking for craftsmanship, originality, resourcefulness, continuity of concept, event theme, use of material and ingenuity. So bring it!! 

Classy & Chic

Make it tasteful. Teams represent not only the design firm but also the industry. No exposed bosoms or bottoms!!

Deadlines and Deliverables 

All images and templates must be submitted to iidanpc.events@gmail.com by 5pm on the deadline date. Teams that submit on time will earn 2 points per deadline and those points will be added to the final score (10 points total). Late submissions will not receive additional points. Confirmation emails will be sent within 24 hours after submission verification. A template will be provided for each submission. Teams must use these templates for submissions in order to receive additional points. All images are subject to use by PRODUCT RUNWAY to promote the event. All templates from the submission will be compiled for the final portfolios.

Templates 

  • Teams will be given an InDesign file template for each submission. This template will be used as is, to create a consistent format for review of deliverables for each submission.
  • The PDF files will be compiled to create a portfolio of the progress and final result of each team. 
  • For each submission teams will submit a high-quality PDF of the InDesign template, and one TIFF or JPG (min 300 DPI) for each image used in the file 
  • If the templates are altered in any way, no points will be awarded for that specific submission.

2024 PATRONS - Patron discounts are not able to be used on entry fees. 2025 Patrons discount code will be able to be used on Prodcut Runway event tickets in 2025. Questins please let us know.
