Our Chapter's JEDI Committee is devoted to shaping the future of the interior design industry. IIDA is committed to promoting and celebrating diversity and inclusion within this field. By creating new initiatives, events, and innovative programs, the JEDI Committee strives to enhance inclusion, access, opportunities, and diversity in our profession and design community. In an industry that is rooted in enriching the human experience, it is essential that we collectively acknowledge that equity, justice, humanity, and dignity are fundamental and indispensable to the practice of design.

Read Aloud and Workshop featuring Design Your World Book
Empowering the next generation of creators: This interactive workshop and reading session invites K-12 students to explore the world of interior design. Design Your World, by Doug Shapiro and Maria VanDeman, is a children's book about a girl named Serena who learns she can control her environment through design, inspiring her to create her own space and empowering readers to see design as a tool for self-expression and problem-solving. The book aims to make design accessible, promote diversity in the field, and encourage children to take control of their lives, with proceeds supporting the IIDA's "Design Your World" program. Students will practice space planning in the hands-on portion of the session by designing their own bedroom layouts, focusing on furniture flow and color selection.
