By the year 2010 an estimated 38 million buildings are expected to be constructed in the US.  At a rate of over 1.25 million tons of construction and demolition waste generated each year in King County alone, it is critical for our community to continue to lead the nation in sustainable design.  Through the Sustainable Design Forum we will continue to educate each other through interactive dialogs among members & guests.

We had an incredible year in 2009 focusing on select topics outlined in the newly released Quick Guide to Green TI from the City of Seattle.  A few examples include Regional Resources, Healthy Building Materials, Energy Efficiency, Integrated Design, and Construction Waste Management.  A warm thank you to our guest speakers who brought incredible knowledge & experience to each topic:
Jim Dawson, Program Director, Toxic Free Legacy Coalition
Steve Abercrombie MSc., LEED®AP, Paladino & Company
Peter David Greaves, Principal, AIA, LEED®AP
Kinley Deller, Waste Reduction Specialist, King County Solid Waste & Recycling Division

2010 is going to be our year to focus on the connection between Design, Construction and Sustainability.  As a collective team we can impart great efficiencies in the way we work and communicate with each other on multiple levels.  This forum is about you and enhancing your educational experience; What would you like to see in 2010?
