COURSES AND PRESENTERS:

GET SMART: INTERIOR DESIGN/SUSTAINABLE OR ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN
PRESENTER: Phil Logsden, IIDA, LEED AP, Knoll Inc.

DESCRIPTION: The course offers consensus sustainable product standards and a basic understanding of the requirements for products to be certified. The course covers why sustainable product communications are required to be based on certification to consensus sustainable product standards or equivalent due to the international law, EPA, Attorney General, and the Federal Trade Commission legal and environmental requirements. This allows the designers to differentiate between credible product communications and “greenwash”.

HCAT: HEALTHCARE APTITUDE TEST
PRESENTER: Lynn Allen, Mohawk Group

DESCRIPTION: In addition to meeting the aesthetic needs of their clients, healthcare designers must now also be specialists in infection control, noise management, ergonomics and maintenance protocols, and applying these sometimes competing factors in meeting the needs of both patients and caregivers. It’s clear that they face significant challenges.

HCAT: Healthcare Aptitude Test is a research-based look into infection control, noise management, ergonomics, safety and maintenance and how they influence patient outcomes and caregiver performance.

HCAT contains leading edge scientific research and testing, and includes the latest information on flooring in healthcare, from thought leaders from industry and academia. Relationships are established between flooring performance and the personal and financial consequences of flooring decisions.

HCAT based on the following assumptions:

  • Flooring in health care must be durable and maintainable
  • Flooring in health care must be healthy and safe
  • Flooring in health care must be quiet and comfortable

HCAT uses an interactive “Question and Answer” format that encourages audience participation.
