South Sound City Center Events

Building Tours

Organized and informational tours through new buildings in the South Sound Region. Past tours included Tacoma Art Museum, Russell Family Foundation in Gig Harbor, and the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium.

Annual Festival of Trees:

Local designer’s work together to design a Christmas Tree to be auctioned off at the annual Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital Festival of Trees. All proceeds go to help with new facilities and equipment for the local hospital. Past year’s themes where: “‘Twas the Night before Christmas,” “Dream, Believe, Achieve,” and “A Christmas List that Works”

Annual Spring Forward Auction:

CSI and IIDA join together for an evening of fun, design, and education. Each year a new theme is chosen and local designers, architects, and industry members are asked to design an item (birdhouse, clock, and edible art) to be part of a silent auction along with many other great gifts. The evening begins with a cocktail hour and silent auction, then dinner and a CEU presentation by CSI.

CEU Presentations

Educational information of various topics and products are presented to local designers. Past CEU presentations have been presented by Masland Carpet and Michael Rotondi, FAIA.

Tacoma Waterfront Cruise

Annual cruise to recognize the hard work of those on the South Sound City Center’s Event Planning Committee and to reflect on the past year’s events. A raffle is held during the cruise for great prizes and gift certificates as My Girl, the Yacht, cruises along the Thea Foss Waterway and out into the Puget Sound. This event is generally held in July or August once the new board is in place.
